Role Overview

Mental Health Intern

A hybrid role at the intersection of psychology, communication, and digital mental health โ€” with real responsibilities from day one.

About the Role

We're looking for a motivated, empathetic, and creative intern to join our team โ€” part content creator, part operations assistant. This isn't a passive internship. You'll contribute meaningfully from day one, collaborate directly with our leadership team, and build real skills at the intersection of psychology, communication, and digital health.

Content Creation & Social Media
  • Conceptualise and create high-quality, psychologically accurate content for Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms โ€” carousels, reels scripts, infographics, short-form copy
  • Translate complex mental health concepts into accessible, engaging, stigma-reducing content
  • Support email newsletters, blog posts, and campaign copy aligned with PsychLine's voice and values
  • Research trends in mental health discourse and identify timely content opportunities
  • Maintain a consistent content calendar in coordination with the team
Peer Engagement & Psychological Support
  • Participate in and moderate community discussions, peer support threads, or group sessions where needed
  • Hold space for peers and community members empathetically, maintaining appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
  • Flag clinical concerns or crisis situations to the supervising psychologist promptly
  • Assist with facilitation of workshops, webinars, or awareness sessions conducted by PsychLine
Admin & Operations
  • Manage appointment scheduling, follow-up communications, and client coordination across platforms
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and trackers for ongoing projects
  • Support onboarding of new clients, therapists, or partners as directed
  • Assist with research design, data collection, and report preparation
  • Provide general operational support across HR, finance coordination, or stakeholder communication as needed
Who We're Looking For
Required
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong written communication skills in English; Hindi proficiency is a plus
  • Genuine interest in mental health, wellbeing, and reducing stigma
  • Comfortable working in a remote, self-directed environment with minimal hand-holding
  • Availability for at least 15 hours per week, with flexibility during core sync hours (7โ€“11 PM IST)
Preferred
  • Prior experience creating mental health or wellness content for social media
  • Familiarity with Canva, Notion, Google Workspace, or project management tools
  • Exposure to peer support, counselling, or community facilitation in any capacity
  • Basic understanding of ethical guidelines in psychological practice (BPS, APA, or RCI standards)

Past Interns

Hear from those who've been here

Our interns don't just observe โ€” they contribute, grow, and often go on to exciting things in mental health.

"
This was my 4th internship. I've done three before โ€” and this was the best one so far. Now imagine some other intern having this good experience as their very first internship. It would mean so much to them over a lifetime.

"
In a world so fast, it's hard to find people who are genuinely interested in knowing how you are and what you have been up to. I like how each one of us were so participative in conversations rather than a top-down approach. If you come to think of it, classrooms and workplaces don't offer such a playground to converse.

Questions about the internship

Everything you might want to know before applying.

Is this a paid internship? โ–ผ
Yes. We pay our interns a monthly stipend. It may not be a large amount, but we firmly believe no work should ever be for free โ€” your time, energy, and expertise have real value. In addition to the stipend, we offer substantial non-monetary value: direct mentorship from Dr. Niharika Thakkar, access to all PsychLine workshops and events, a certificate of internship, a letter of recommendation, and priority consideration for future paid roles.
How long does the internship last? โ–ผ
The minimum duration is 3 months, with a genuine opportunity to transition into a long-term paid role for strong performers. Most internships run for 2โ€“4 months, though this is flexible depending on your academic requirements. We're happy to accommodate durations that align with your university's programme structure โ€” just let us know what you need.
Will I receive a certificate and a letter of recommendation? โ–ผ
Yes, absolutely. Every intern who completes their tenure receives a certificate of internship from PsychLine India Private Limited. We also provide genuine, personalised letters of recommendation based on your performance and contributions. These are written with care โ€” not just boilerplate letters โ€” and many of our past interns have found them meaningful for further study applications and job searches.
Do you provide any licensing or formal accreditation? โ–ผ
No โ€” we do not provide individual professional licensing of any kind, and it's important to be clear about this. We are a private organisation, not a regulatory body such as the RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India). That said, we are real, reliable, and fully registered under Indian law. Our certificates and letters of recommendation are legitimate documentation of your work with a registered organisation, and we stand behind everything we issue.
Can I intern remotely from outside India? โ–ผ
Yes โ€” we are fully remote and welcome applications from the Indian diaspora or international students interested in the Indian mental health context. Core sync hours are 7โ€“11 PM IST, so please ensure your time zone allows for this before applying.
What makes a strong application? โ–ผ
We look for people who genuinely care about mental health โ€” not just academically, but personally. A cover note that reflects real thought about PsychLine's mission, combined with a content sample that demonstrates your communication style, goes a long way. We value authenticity over polish. Don't overthink it โ€” just write honestly about why this work matters to you.
How often do you run internship cohorts? โ–ผ
We host internships regularly throughout the year rather than in fixed cohorts. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so there's no single deadline to worry about. That said, spots are limited and we encourage early applications.

Ready to apply?

Send us the three things below and we'll be in touch. We review applications on a rolling basis โ€” there's no deadline, but earlier is always better.
